What is the Difference Between an Annual and a Perennial Plant?

Annuals- These need to be replanted every year (Sunflowers, Petunias, Marigolds, etc)- I recommend starting with annuals if you are new to gardening.
Perennial- These will come back on their own every year (Tulips, Daffodils, Crocuses, etc).
